I invested in a Freeze Dryer early this year. I was hesitant to take the leap toward freeze drying, but after touring the factory and doing much searching, homework and talking to multiple people, I chose this as my preferred method of putting up food for storage.
I am so thrilled with my freeze dryer! You are only limited to your imagination as to what you can freeze dry. I have done things from ice cream to meats - chicken and beef. Dairy products are excellent freeze dried. The taste is amazing when you rehydrate the food. It tastes just like fresh.
Of course some of things, we choose to eat freeze dried, like fruits, ice cream sandwiches, berries, and such. The freeze dried food is so much more portable. This is an adventure that I thoroughly enjoy.
No more canning for me. I can use pretty much anything that I want by freeze drying it.
